The 14-day positivity rate for Covid-19 testing in Greene County is less than 10 percent for the first time in many weeks. Becky Wolf, director of Greene County public health, reported a positivity rate of 9.6 percent Tuesday morning, Dec. 29.
Two new cases of Covid-19 were identified in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 658. There have been three new cases in the past three days, 18 new cases in the last seven days and 28 new cases in the past 14 days.
Of the total cases, 125 are active and 533 persons are considered recovered. Seven county residents have died of Covid-19.
Greene County public health director Becky Wolf continues to encourage county residents to celebrate the New Year holiday safety. She suggests avoiding gatherings of non-household members when possible. “Social distancing, wearing masks, washing hands frequently, and staying home if you are sick are all ways to protect your friends and loved ones. Please be careful,” Wolf said.

Breakdown for age groups for Greene County positive cases is as follows:
- 0-18 years: 15 percent
- 19-39 years: 28 percent
- 40-59 years: 32 percent
- 60-74 years: 18 percent
- 80 and older: 6 percent
The public health Covid hotline, 515-386-0564, is available Monday-Friday, from 8 am to 4:30 pm. The hotline will not be available Friday, Jan. 1.
